Profile

Rob Kaplan has been involved in the acquisition, development, editing, and writing of quality nonfiction books for more than 30 years. He began his career at AMACOM Books, the publishing division of American Management Association, ultimately becoming its editor-in-chief and publisher. He subsequently served as director of Macmillan Book Club’s Executive Program Book Club and Architects & Planners Book Service, and as executive editor of the J.K. Lasser imprint of Prentice Hall Reference, where he supervised the annual publication of the bestselling J.K. Lasser’s Your Income Tax. Finally, as senior editor of the reference division of HarperCollins, he acquired, developed, and edited books in a wide variety of subject areas, including film, music, business, history, parenting, general reference, and others.

Since becoming an independent editor/writer in 1998, Mr. Kaplan has also edited, written, and co-written numerous books, including The Young Entrepreneur’s Edge by Jennifer Kushell (Random House, 1999); A Passion for Books (with Harold Rabinowitz) (Times Books, 1999), a Book-of-the-Month Club alternate and Quality Paperback Book Club dual main selection; The Insider’s Guide to Writing the Perfect Resume (with Karl Weber) (Peterson’s, 2000); Science Says (W.H. Freeman, 2000); The Warren Buffett CEO by Robert P. Miles (John Wiley, 2001); Speaking of Books (with Harold Rabinowitz) (Crown, 2001); Strategic Negotiation (with Brian Dietmeyer) (Dearborn, 2004); and Helping the Addict You Love by Laurence Westreich (Fireside, 2007).

Mr. Kaplan holds a B.A. in English from the City University of New York, and is listed in National Directory of Editors & Writers (M. Evans, 2005) and on www.publishersmarketplace.com. A native of New York City, he now lives in Cortlandt Manor, New York.
